Terms and privacy

Last updated November 1, 2026. Plain language on purpose. If something here is unclear, it is a mistake worth reporting.

Privacy

The short version. CADchad has no account, no server and no analytics. Your designs are never uploaded, and nobody else can see them unless you share them.

What it stores

Your designs, a backup copy made before you open a share link, your settings, your slicer settings and whether you have seen the welcome tour are saved in your own browser on this device, in local storage. Clearing your browser data deletes all of it.

What it sends

The app, its modeling engine, fonts and sample models load from cadchad.com itself. Your designs are never sent anywhere.

Share links

A share link packs the whole design into the part of the address after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part to any server, so the design travels only inside the link. Anyone who has the link can open the design, so treat it like the file itself.

Model links

A link can ask CADchad to load a model file from another website. If you open one, your browser fetches that file from that site, and that site sees the request like any page visit. CADchad's own links only point at cadchad.com.

Printing

Sending a print uses your browser's serial connection. The browser asks your permission before CADchad can talk to a printer, and the print instructions go straight over the cable. Nothing goes over the internet.

Cookies and tracking

None. There are no cookies, no ads, no analytics and no third party scripts.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may keep standard request logs, such as your IP address, when a page loads. CADchad never receives or uses them. See the GitHub privacy statement.

Do Not Track

CADchad does not track you, so a browser's Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal changes nothing here. No other company can track you across sites through CADchad.

Children

CADchad is not aimed at children under 13, and it collects nothing from anyone.

Terms of use

It is free, and your designs are yours

There is no fee and no account. CADchad claims no rights to anything you make with it.

Printing is at your own risk

The slicer turns your design and your settings into instructions for a real machine. Wrong settings, or a mistake in the slicer, can waste material, damage a printer or create a fire risk. Check the layer preview before printing, use settings made for your printer, and never leave a print running unattended. The slicer is an experimental feature.

Check your measurements

Geometry and dimensions can be wrong. Measure before you rely on a part, and do not use CADchad for anything load bearing or safety critical without checking it independently.

No warranty

CADchad is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. Browsers can clear stored data and files can be lost, so save copies of designs you care about. To the fullest extent the law allows, Vi Ellis is not liable for any loss from using it, including lost work, damaged equipment or wasted material.

Changes

These terms may change. CADchad has no way to contact you, so any change is posted here first and the date at the top of this page shows the current version.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of California. Questions go to Vi Ellis through vi-ellis.com.

Accessibility

This page and the landing page aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA, and every text color is checked automatically for contrast in light and dark mode at phone and desktop widths. A 3D modeler is hard to make fully accessible, and parts of the editor still depend on a mouse or touch. If something blocks you, tell Vi Ellis through vi-ellis.com.
